When natural disasters strike, Children International is ready to help. Last fall, Typhoon Haiyan killed more than 6,000 people and injured more than 28,000.Thousands were left homeless. Even before the storm, 200 Children International volunteers and staff had organized to assist victims, many of whom were among the nearly 70,000 children and youth in Children International’s programs.
Once the typhoon hit, CI acted quickly to help, providing food and building water towers to provide clean drinking water. With giving partner TOMS, CI provided shoes to thousands of individuals, as well as hygiene kits and school supplies.
